UN Consultative status enables OISTE.ORG to actively engage with the United Nations Secretariat, programs, funds and agencies in a number of ways http://www.oiste.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/OISTE_confirmation_ECOSOC.pdf
OISTE.ORG considers that there are important issues related to personal data management, digital identity, information security and the respect of the right to privacy that concern all Internet users and demand concerted actions between States. The OISTE Foundation founded in 1998 as a not for profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, regulated by article 80 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code is creating a “Switzerland on the Internet”, a set of policies, technologies and legislation allowing the Internet to provide Net neutrality which is increasingly becoming a subject of discussions both at private and public sector. OISTE position is that internet companies, social networks, cloud services, internet services providers and governments should treat the data of users and organizations equally and that everyone has the right to free access to an open internet. Any erosion of net neutrality is an attack on the founding principles of the internet. At the heart of this strategy OISTE Rootkey is present in over 2 billion browsers and mobile browsers and Internet of Things devices allowing OISTE root to be ubiquitous and universal when receives the public key from web certification authorities worldwide.
OISTE calls on other NGOs and UN Member States to work towards the requirement that Internet has to articulate the “right to disappear” into its design. This means that individuals will be empowered to manage their personal information, including the possibility of deleting personal data if they do not want it to linger in cyberspace. This in compliance with the Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights “No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks”.

ON FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY IN STADIUM AND FANS INTERACTIONS WITH WISFANS https://www.wisekey.com/press/wisekey-presentation-fifa-headquarters-zurich-future-technology-fans-interactions-wisfans/ Mon, 28 Oct 2013 04:46:42 +0000 https://wisekey.com/?p=4886 ON FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY IN STADIA AND FANS INTERACTIONS WITH WISFANS

WISeKey presentation at FIFA Headquarters in Zurich

GENEVA/ZURICH- 28 October 2013 Football clubs today exist in analogue. Go to a stadium and if your phone has reception at half-time, you are lucky. I want to explain where the technology is developing and how stadia will be able to help us in the future.
Clubs know that their stadia and fans are a huge asset. Take Real Madrid, for example: they may have 80 million paying fans but there are another 700 million around the world, in China, India, all over the world. So how can they reach out to these fans? Through technology, and specifically, by turning stadia into media hubs and making fans the terminals to that media hub.
Clubs realise that the technology empowers them: their fans can capture the content around the club: it might be goals from a game, or just seeing a player walk down the street, but if that user-generated content is sent around the world from the club’s platform, rather than from another social media platform, they get the benefit. So clubs want to wrest users from Facebook or Twitter and create an existence and a community that is directly linked to them.
The stadia as hubs need to be centralised as this is where all the media data is aggregated and the identity information is unified. There is no privacy issue: this is not about names or addresses of fans anymore, it’s about digital identity and behaviour – which younger fans have no problem sharing, particularly if it involves not only being part of the club community but also generating content for that club.
We are working with clubs to create Apps that allow fans to follow their club online; they can access stadia via their phones, digitally sign in with their phones and be recognised through their previous behaviour so they can have the fan experience they want.
In Japan’s bid to host the 2022 World Cup, they said they would develop technology enabling them to provide a live international telecast of the event in hologram format, which would allow you to go to a stadium and watch it played out as though it was real.
This can work both ways: as well as going to an empty stadium and watching a holgoram version of a game, clubs or players could play in an empty stadium, fill it up and increase the volume of the fans through an App, and feel like they are playing at Wembley. It’s a mixing of the virtual and the physical in both worlds.
Will our kids mind that they are not watching the real thing? I don’t think so. The new wave of fans are so used to seeing Lionel Messi or Neymar do tricks on computer games that I don’t think they mind if they don’t see the real thing. They are used to 3-D versions and if you have to pay $5,000 for a live game, or $10 for the 3-D version, they will pay the $10. This technology could be ready within five or ten years, as soon as that.

WISeKey signs with CR Vasco da Gama to enhance their global fan base ecosystem engagement with WISfans https://www.wisekey.com/press/wisekey-signs-with-cr-vasco-da-gama-to-enhance-their-global-fan-base-ecosystem-engagement-with-wisfans/ Mon, 28 Oct 2013 03:00:09 +0000 https://wisekey.com/?p=4910 GENEVA/RIO DE JANEIRO – 28 October 2013 – WISeKey SA announced today the signature of a strategic partnership with CR Vasco da Gama allowing another Brazilian football club to use WISeKey´s ground breaking online technology WISfans©, thus enabling football players to stay connected with club fans on and off the field in fluid continuity. Vasco da Gama is a famous and traditional Brazilian multisport club from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was founded on August 21, 1898 and is one of the most popular clubs in Brazil, with almost 20 million supporters.
WISfans© harnesses original content created by the players and their club via social media platforms, and further enriches this with exclusive content from current players and club legends, thus empowering their fans’ mobile experience, and creating a rich Social CRM platform.
WISfans© taps into CR Vasco da Gama’s enormous, worldwide supporter ecosystem (blogs, match reports, videos, photos, fan-supported social campaigns, Twitter, Facebook, all sporting forums), to bring fans the most exciting and relevant content. WISfans© cuts through the noise to give fans real-time interaction with their favourite players, as well as fun digital features such as biometric resemblance comparisons to club players.
“We are delighted to work with CR Vasco da Gama to deploy WISfans© as their preferred technology for connecting and monetizing their large fans ecosystem. WISeKey will develop this partnership allowing CR Vasco da Gama to be among the most advanced clubs improving the fan experience through the use of cutting-edge social media technologies”, said Carlos Moreira, Founder and Chairman of WISeKey. I will be presenting this technology during the International Football Arena Summit at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich the 28th October with the presence of FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter http://www.international-football-arena.com/event/ifa-zurich/program
“Vasco da Gama continues to develop projects to enhance the relationship with their fans. Vasco definitely enters into the mobile world, developing one more tool of relationship with its members and supporters”, said Cristiano Koehler, CEO of CR Vasco da Gama.

WISEKEY CLOSES ADDITIONAL FUNDRAISING AS PART OF GROWTH STRATEGY AND PRE-IPO PLAN AND LEANS TOWARDS THE US FOR FUTURE GROWTH https://www.wisekey.com/press/wisekey-closes-additional-fundraising-as-part-of-growth-strategy-and-pre-ipo-plan-and-leans-towards-the-us-for-future-growth/ Tue, 03 Sep 2013 09:42:55 +0000 https://wisekey.com/?p=4930

GENEVA/SAN FRANCISCO – September 3, 2013.  WISeKey, a leading international mobile cybersecurity provider and a World Economic Forum Global Growth Company, announced today that it has closed additional fundraising as part of a third and last pre-IPO investment round. The Company divided the round into three tranches with the objective of raising a cumulative $120 Million in pre-IPO financing. The previous and second tranche was announced by the Company in December 2011. http://www.startupticker.ch/en/news/december-2011/wisekey-closes-usd35-million-second-round-of-the-c#.Ugn1FqYazCQ

This new $25 Million investment includes a $10 Million investment raised in Q2 2013 and the JV partner`s option to invest an additional $15 Million pre IPO. At the conclusion of the three-tranche round, the Company expects to raise a total of $40 Million pre-IPO, which includes the JV partner`s option of $15 Million and will include the expansion of WISeKey headquarters to the USA. This new funding will come from US institutional investors and from the expansion of WISeKey`s current joint ventures in China, India, Russia and Saudi Arabia, completing the Company strategy to be present in all BRICs.

Since its incorporation in 1999, WISeKey has raised a total of $80 Million and will have raised a pre-IPO total of $120 Million. After the final round of financing, the post money valuation will likely have a $400 Million valuation. WISeKey intends to use the proceeds to enter the BRIC markets and relocate a significant number of its activities to the USA, where there is robust investor support for high-growth companies specializing in the core businesses of cybersecurity, mobiles and social networks can be found.

The company intends to maintain several of its traditional areas of business in Switzerland. This includes its proprietary digital brand protection technology WISeAuthentic© and its Trusted Models. The company`s Swiss hub will also continue to develop high-end encryption projects, including WISePhone© which enables smartphones to make encrypted voice calls within closed groups, and R&D.

As part of its reallocation strategy, WISeKey has already relocated to its development lab to Vietnam where it currently employs 80 engineers for the development WISeID Personal©, the mobile app using encryption technology to store private information and WISfans.com©, the company`s social network for sports fans. The latter has already signed agreements with several iconic sports franchises, including a rights deal with Real Madrid for China, a global agreement with FC Barcelona and most recently an agreement with CR Flamengo, one of the biggest football clubs in Brazil.

The cybersecurity is in high demand due to the recent sharp rise in cybersecurity threats at all levels, from government to individual consumers. The global cybersecurity market`s worth was estimated at roughly $60bn in 2011, with predicted growth rates of 10% for the next three to five years, according to a November 2011 PricewaterhouseCoopers report: http://www.pwc.com/en_GX/gx/aerospace-defence/pdf/cyber-security-mergers-acquisitions.pdf. On a regional level, North America is expected to lead the global cybersecurity market with demand for cybersecurity systems in the US to support market growth. New initiatives such as the White House`s cyber insurance market to create incentives for companies to adopt cyber risk-reducing measures, will add to that growth.

The European cybersecurity market is forecast to account for the second highest spending with the Asia-Pacific region expected to grow at a CAGR of 9% for this industry, while markets in the Middle East are also set to register robust growth. Within the Latin American region, Brazil is expected to be the highest spender on cybersecurity.

Recent acquisition activity has underlined interest in cybersecurity. IBM is said to be paying between $800 Million and $1bn for Trusteer, whose revenues in 2012 were reported at roughly $40 Million. Last month Cisco agreed to buy Sourcefire for $2.7bn with a revenue of $223.1 Million in 2012. Intel aquired McAfee three years ago for $7.68bn.

“Data protection is currently severely under-serviced in today`s fully-connected world. WISeKey is one of the world`s most respected providers for personal, business, and government data security and the company is well-placed to rapidly become a go-to provider in the US. ” – Robert Wolf, Founder/CEO, 32 Advisors and member of the WISeKey Advisory Board.

“We are delighted to establish a Joint Venture WISeKey Saudi Arabia and assist the company to open business for WISeKey as the KSA will be spending more than $6bn in 2013 on cybersecurity. Under the Joint Venture agreement, WISeKey and Saudi Crown Investment SA will become financial and operational founders of the new entity”- Mr. Kaher Ben Naser Tahat, CEO Saudi Crown Investment SA.

“GJC is extremely optimistic about the partnership with WISeKey SA and with WISeKey Liber`s, the joint venture created, capacities to deploy WK`s technology in the Latin American and Iberian region. We aim to be a solid and a reliable player in this market, helping further develop the e-security landscape across the region. With WISeKey moving to the US, we believe it will enhance the company`s capacities with synergies to be used across the board and across regions, hence helping us to become an established global player in this field,”-  Cristiano Câmara, President of GJC.

“We`re thrilled with the progress of this round and this vote of support from investors and our JV partners. This new funding will be utilized to productize our groundbreaking Mobile Suite in the US: WISfans, WISeID and WISePhone technology, significantly broadening the multi-billion dollar market opportunity. Our ambition is to provide US-based consumers with hack-proof mobile technology over the next years”- Carlos Moreira, Founder and CEO of WISeKey.

WISeKey will be announcing further details on its USA operations during the month of September coinciding with its participation as the Official Fan App Supplier of ORACLE TEAM USA, the sailing syndicate preparing to defend the 34th America`s Cup in San Francisco in September. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5Wvv39luv9M.

This interactive session will explore how individuals portray themselves on the Internet and how others perceive them. It will consider the implications of identity, anonymity, pseudonymity and authentication for Internet participation and governance.

    • How are individuals “identifiable” on the Internet? Are they aware how others perceive them? To what extent can individuals render themselves less “identifiable”?
    • Should individuals have the right to go online anonymously/pseudonymously? What conditions (if any) should such a right have?
    • Are “throwaway identities” really disposable?
    • Is the next big thing “Bring Your Own Identity”? What might this look like?
    • Is there a future in “Internet cash”?

Now WISeID Social can also encrypt G+ wall postings, SMS and Tweets, allowing privacy over any communication service, even open social networks. The transmitted text and wall posting cannot be decrypted without an “access key”. You set the key and share the access key with your friends by a different channel so they use it to decrypt their walls.
Participation on the web and in social networks puts us all at risk of personal data theft. Hackers have infiltrated scores of networks by gathering innocuous details about all of us that flows freely on the web, and using that information deceptively. Encrypting personal messages is one means to help protect our details from eavesdropping, phishing, and other deceptions. Encrypting private correspondence on social networks can also protect your personal information from being involuntarily used for advertising. With WISeID the information is converted from its recognizable format into a code that cannot be read without applying a complex algorithm to decrypt it.
WISeID Social encryption is part of the Right to Disappear Online international campaign launched by WISeKey and The International Organization for Secure Electronic Transactions OISTE.ORG with the objective to return the control of personal data to the users.

Security card provides protection against fakes https://www.wisekey.com/press/security-card-provides-protection-against-fakes/ Mon, 21 Jan 2013 10:38:55 +0000 https://wisekey.com/?p=4983 January 21, 2013 – By Simon de Burton

Geneva-based WISekey is best known for providing apparently impenetrable, ultra high-tech information security and identification management systems to protect data in a diverse range of sectors including health, education and defence. Now, the company is beginning to make its mark in the luxury goods world through the use of a system designed to prevent the sale of counterfeit and “grey market” wristwatches. (Klonopin)
Fledgling brand, HYT (the Hydro-Mechanical Horologists) is the latest to adopt the WISeAuthentic system, which will be supplied with each of its revolutionary, liquid-display watches.
WISeAuthentic takes the form of a digital reader and a warranty card containing a unique and non-forgeable digital certificate. The card enables a prospective purchaser or retailer to carry out a cast-iron, high level security check, either online or by using the device in conjunction with the Near Field Communication (NFC) system on a Smart phone.
But, as well as proving that a watch is genuine, WISeAuthentic also contains full details of its sale, ownership and service history.
Ion Schiau, HYT’s vice-president of sales and marketing, admits that the likelihood of one of the brand’s award winning, €40,000 watches being faked is slim (the company uses a bellows system to pump brightly-coloured liquid around the edge of the dial to indicate the hour), but says WISeAuthentic has additional uses.
“HYT’s horology is hybrid and high tech, so to be able to deliver our first watches in December along with another, totally 21st-century system seemed appropriate,” says Mr Schiau.
“Although WISeAuthentic was primarily developed as a tool against fake watches, it is far more wide-ranging than that – as well as containing information about warranty and servicing, it should also prevent any parallel trading as the details of anyone who retails the watch will be stored. Our system will provide access to a private club and tailor made concierge, rental car and hotel booking services,” says Mr Schiau, who first introduced the idea to the watch world back in 2009 while working for Hublot.
At first, the famously conservative watch trade was reluctant to accept the idea. But the so-called Hublotista system is supplied with every Hublot watch sold around the world and is also linked to a private, online owners’ club offering protected discussions, exclusive information, invitations, information exchanges and privileged access to some of the brand’s activities.
Hublotista’s function as an anti-counterfeiting system is also of considerable benefit, as the stellar success of the brand’s Big Bang models has made them popular watches to fake.

A crucial step for WISeKey https://www.wisekey.com/press/a-crucial-step-for-wisekey/ Wed, 19 Dec 2012 16:43:24 +0000 https://wisekey.com/?p=4985 WISeID

The Geneva firm has established ties with Apple, Android and Microsoft.
Geneva – WISeID is a biometric authentication solution able to store all your passwords, PIN numbers, etc. in a digital, encrypted safe. It is available on the iPhone, Android and even in Windows. The Swiss electronic wallet is therefore becoming, de facto, a gateway between various operating systems. It can be used on your PC, tablet or mobile phone, whether you are accessing your Facebook page, making an online payment (the company is associated with Bancorp, the leader in prepaid cards in the USA), or even using your telephone as a boarding pass on a plane. With a model where you do not pay for the application but for the storage of data (anonymous) in a secure cloud, WISeKey has already attracted over 30 million users. Its CEO, Carlos Moreira, is expecting this number to increase tenfold over the next twelve months now that WISeKey is a multi-platform app.
