Full Moon in Libra 2018

Full Moon in Libra 2018

Since the upcoming Full Moon occurs this Saturday, March 31st at 7:36am Central time, you may be feeling the energies more intensely Friday night depending on your time zone. It’s a heavy one folks… and 10° Libra is an ideal degree for the ‘completion’ energy the Full Moon brings. This degree is typically easy going and non-confrontational and there is a firm assurance that all is well with finances, relationships are typically loving and good-natured.  Sounds like some good news, right? But when we investigate the energies a little further it actually looks pretty extreme.

This is our second Full Moon of the month, making it a Blue Moon. January and March are the only two months of 2018 to have Blue Moons, so this will be the last one of the year. This is pretty rare to have two Blue Moons in a year. The last occurrence was in 1999 and the next time won’t be until 2037.

This particular Full Moon in Libra is conjuring some intense energies. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. We’ve seen a lot of gun control and violence issues in mass media lately which largely corresponds with Mars being out of bounds. This phenomenon started on the last New Moon which was  March 17th and goes through April 7th. The Mars energies will tend to be a little more explosive and out of control. We will see more shadow sides of Mars being expressed. The advice is to be aware of old anger bubbling up for release (and hopefully healing) and to find some healthy outlets to explore releases of any combative-type energy. So with a moody Full Moon in a challenging square position to this Mars energy, I’m encouraging everyone to be extra careful. You may want to be more cautious these next few weeks. Stay hydrated, and proceed with caution.

This is where a deeper study of astrology can really help you, right? Because when we just look at the surface – a Full Moon in Libra should be about justice being served, the balance is restored, and fairness/equality issues being complete. But just underneath the surface are some darker tones.

In addition to being in a challenging placement with Mars, the Moon will be opposite a retrograde Mercury and squaring Saturn. This is a time to think before you speak. Again: Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Seriously – take a pause. Learn from the breath of silence. Break any old patterns of reacting in anger. If some outside circumstance is triggering you, pause and seek to understand. Challenge yourself to use some new tools.

There could be feelings of wanting to run away from it all with the Moon in quincunx to illusive Neptune in Pisces. Be aware of tendencies in yourself or those in your community who may be prone to suicide, overdosing, or addiction. This is serious business folks. It’s 2018, you can even text suicide emergencies these days. National Suicide Hotline | Text CONNECT to 741741 | crisistextline.org‎

My book recommendation for this Moon is Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. You can get it on audbile, buy it from your local bookstore or order it on Amazon. If you like this idea, you may also want to check out the Center for NV Communication’s website: https://www.cnvc.org/. They are based in New Mexico and doing cool things worldwide. There are even CDs available with NVC meditations on them.

Fortunately, yes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel here. If you’re breezing through this phase of life and the Full Moon energies aren’t as heavy for you, or if you’re looking for the silver lining among all the chaos, look towards the Moon sextile the North Node on 3/31. Sextiles always bring open doors and opportunities, and when the North Node is involved it’s about your higher calling. So a doorway to destiny is available for you just behind the rubble. The North Node remains in Leo, the sign of the heart-centered leader, the activist, the entertainer. Where can you take leadership of your life? Where can you allow God to restore the balance of your life? What do you need to be responsible for in order to move forward?

A few final thoughts and insights about this Moon. The Karma police are on duty – you don’t have to right all the wrongs. Consider the advice to choose your battles. Remind yourself you’re not in control of everything. I’m not suggesting you have to sit silently by and let times change while you and your loved ones get railroaded. I am simply encouraging you to be in full alignment with your thoughts, actions, and consider the consequences of your words during this time when so many people are healing anger issues and are easily triggered. Walk softly, say what you mean and mean what you say, pause before you react.

And to add some AstroWellBeing to the mix – I’ve pulled a quote from one of Molly’s articles: “The Full Moon in Libra highlights the skin and kidneys as areas to target for treatments (other than surgical) and self-love.”

In closing, our Libra Full Moon sets the stage for the next two weeks, as the Moon winds down from its maximum in an air sign and gains momentum towards a fresh, hot, and faster New Moon in fiery Aries on April 15th. Don’t worry, times are changing. We’re in the fast lane now.
